Where to dispose of disposable takeaway packaging?

Where to dispose of disposable takeaway packaging after finishing a meal?

This is a question asked by everyone who cares about protecting the environment. The problem stems from the fact that polystyrene and plastic containers must be properly sorted. The situation is different in the case of compostable and biodegradable containers and packaging for takeaway food.

Disposable takeaway packaging – certificates

These boxes must have the appropriate certificates in order for us to market them in the European Union. If they have them, they can be disposed of with BIO and/or PAIER products, depending on the material from which the packaging is made. We are talking about the OK Compost certificate. The OK Compost certificate informs that the packaging degrades within 6 months of composting. Furthermore, we can be sure that there were no visible packaging residues in the compost obtained during the tests, and that the disposable packaging has no impact on the composting process itself or the quality of the compost produced.

Disposable takeaway packaging – is it environmentally friendly?

Using takeaway catering services also has many benefits. First of all, we save water, gas and energy. If we also decide to choose catering outlets where food is served in disposable, fully eco-friendly packaging and Pakowanko takeaway containers, we will also contribute to reducing the amount of plastic on planet Earth. When you decide to purchase packaging for soup or main courses, wooden cutlery, coffee cups or napkins, for example, you can be sure that you have purchased products that are fully environmentally friendly, safe to use, durable and 100% hygienic.

Where to dispose of disposable takeaway packaging? – paper containers

Intuitively, paper packaging such as paper bags, parchment, cardboard boxes, burger boxes, soup containers, paper coffee cups and boxes are made of kraft paper. This paper is also known as kraft paper or simply wrapping paper or grey paper, despite the fact that it is brown in colour. In practice, this paper is mainly produced from recycled paper, which makes it perfectly in line with modern trends in environmentalism and recycling.

Where to dispose of disposable takeaway packaging? – pulp and sugar cane containers

The second type of packaging is containers made from sugar cane pulp. The topic of sugar cane pulp is discussed in a separate article. For sorting purposes, remember that sugar cane pulp is a production waste product from the production of sugar cane. This makes the material completely plant-based, giving it the advantage of being compostable and biodegradable. This packaging should be disposed of in the organic waste bin, commonly referred to as BIO.

Where to dispose of disposable takeaway packaging? – wooden cutlery

The same applies to wooden spoons and cutlery in the form of knives and forks. As the name suggests, we are dealing with wood, so cutlery can be disposed of in the brown bin, i.e. for mixed waste. It would be a good idea to separate the paper packaging and put it in the blue bin together with the napkin.
