DPD boxes

DPD boxes

Products: None

In e-commerce, logistics is not an "add-on" to the business. It is your biggest operating cost and, at the same time, your main point of contact with the customer. Every mistake in choosing a box hits your pocket twice: once when you pay DPD extra for non-standard dimensions, and again when the customer calls with a complaint because the goods arrived in a crumpled box.

The DPD packaging category at Pakowanko was created so that you no longer have to guess. We offer standardised solutions that fit perfectly in DPD sorters, fit in parcel locker compartments and can keep up with the pace of a modern warehouse. There is no room for random dimensions here – there is room for mathematical optimisation of your margin.

E-commerce problems that we solve with a single box

If you run an online shop, these problems probably keep you awake at night. See how our packaging eliminates them from your everyday life:

1. The spectre of volumetric weight

Do you ship light but bulky items? If your box is too big for the goods, you are paying for air transport. DPD calculates the volumetric weight, which can drastically increase the cost of the parcel.

  • Solution: Our boxes are graded every few centimetres. You choose the size to minimise empty space. Smaller box = lower volumetric weight = lower courier invoice.

2. Surcharges for "non-standard items"

DPD couriers do not like stretch film, protruding cardboard ears or oval shapes. Each such parcel ends up in the "Non-standard" category, which means a surcharge of several to several dozen zlotys.

Solution: Our boxes are perfect, rigid cuboids. They are designed to pass smoothly through automatic readers in sorting centres. No surcharges, no stress when checking your end-of-month statements.

3. Complaints due to "soft cardboard"

Cheap cardboard absorbs moisture and loses its rigidity during transport. The result? Crushed corners and damaged goods.

Solution: We use heavyweight, high-flute cardboard that stays upright even when parcels are stacked on top of each other in the vehicle. Your electronics, cosmetics or home accessories arrive intact.

Adapting to DPD services – Operational Guide

In e-commerce, what matters is how the customer wants to receive their parcel. We have divided our range according to specific DPD services:

DPD Pickup parcel machines (S, M, L lockers)

Customers love parcel machines because they can collect their parcels 24/7. You need to make sure that the parcel fits in the locker. Our boxes are designed to fit the following locker sizes:

  • Size S (up to 11x44x59 cm): Ideal for books, clothing and small gadgets.

  • Size M (up to 24x44x59 cm): The most popular choice for medium-sized orders.

  • Size L (up to 50x44x59 cm): Use the full depth of the machine for larger items weighing up to 20 kg.

DPD Pickup and Courier points (domestic and international)

For courier shipments, the limits are higher, but the pitfalls are the same.

  • Domestic service: Maximum length 150 cm and total circumference with height up to 300 cm. Our largest boxes are calculated to safely fit within these limits, allowing you to ship heavier goods (up to 31.5 kg).

  • Export (DPD International): Please note that the limits are stricter here (max. 100 cm in length and total dimensions of 250 cm). We have formats dedicated to cross-border e-commerce, which eliminate the risk of a parcel being returned from the border due to exceeding the size limits.

How to measure a parcel so you don't overpay? (Protip for Magazyn)

Measuring a parcel seems simple, but this is where most of the errors that generate costs occur:

  1. Measure after packing: The box "swells" when filled. Always measure the parcel at its widest point.

  2. The 300 cm rule: At DPD, the key parameter is: $length + 2 \times width + 2 \times height \le 300 \text{ cm}$. Our packaging is designed so that this formula always gives a result that is favourable for your wallet.

  3. Gross weight: Remember that the weight limit (e.g. 31.5 kg for courier services) includes the goods together with the packaging and tape. By choosing our lightweight yet durable cardboard boxes, you gain valuable grams on the weight of your goods.

FAQ – What do e-commerce businesses need to know about DPD packaging?

1. Do your boxes require additional stretch film wrapping?

We do not recommend this. DPD often treats stretch film as "unsortable", which generates additional charges. Our boxes have an aesthetic, smooth surface that perfectly holds courier labels and tape, eliminating the need for wrapping.

2. What if my parcel exceeds the standard length of 150 cm?

In that case, you fall into the bulky or long-length shipment segment. If you regularly send such goods, please contact us – we will prepare specially designed boxes that will make it easier for the courier to load them and reduce the risk of damage for you.

3. Are the boxes environmentally friendly?

In e-commerce, "eco" is no longer a trend, but a standard. Our boxes are 100% recyclable, which allows you to build a positive image of your brand in the eyes of conscious consumers.

Automate your packaging with Pakowanko

Stop wasting time adjusting old boxes and money on logistics surcharges. Choose standardisation that will allow your e-commerce business to scale faster. Choose packaging dedicated to DPD dimensions and focus on sales, not measuring parcels.
